Create Database If not Exists
If you are having a wordpress website, it just means that you have made the best choice for your business. However, having a wordpress cms demands lots of knowledge when you run into some problems. You may contact your programmer or website designer or you may want to fix it yourself.
One of the problem that many people has is an issue which is similar to this :
CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTS `ss` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci
When does this happen?
This issue often happens when a person wants to migrate a wordpress website from one server to another.
The person usually make a backup of his WP Website and Export the SQL.
He then goes to the new server, upload his WP Website and Import the SQL from the phpMyAdmin. The issue happens at the Import of the SQL to the New Host.
The reasons can be:
- Bad Naming of the databases
- Bad Naming of the Users
While this issue can be solved by Expert Programmers directly from the phpMyAdmin, beginner wp users can easily fix this by what i will show below.
How to fix this?
The way to fix the issue of ” CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTS `ss` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci ” is to actually fix it at the root.
What i mean by the root, is when you do your SQL Export from your old server itself.
Let’s go for it.
(A) From your Old Server, go to phpMyAdmin
(B) Click on the Database Associated with your WP Website
(C) You will see a list of Tables like in the Picture below.
(D) Tick “Check all” (number 1 in the picture below)
(E) You will see the Drop Down, “With Selected” (number 2 in the picture below), click and you will see Export. Click Export.
(F) Another window will open up, Select “Custom” (number 3 in the picture below)
(G) Select SQL (number 4 in the picture below)
(H) All Tables should be selected (number 5 in the picture below)
(I) Click “Go” (number 6 in the picture below)
Now, go to your New Server and import the SQL you just did above. This issue ” CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTS `ss` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci ” will not appear.
